Advanced Input Devices Has Launched Its Specialist Outsourcing Services In Europe

Complete Sub-System Approach Now Available to European System Manufacturers

Europe, December 12, 2002-- Advanced Input Devices (AID) has launched its specialist outsourcing services in Europe, with the establishment of a UK office and project management team. The specialist Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider offers a technology-neutral approach to complex user-input sub-systems, covering all stages from concept, through prototypes, to production engineering and volume production. ISO 9001 certification and extensive engineering resources enable Advanced Input Devices to offer in-depth technical support for integrating keyboards, cursor controls, displays, electronic interfaces and custom enclosures into a complete input sub-system, leaving systems designers free to focus on core functionality.

The new project management resource is designed to provide more responsive support to new and existing European customers who wish to access AID's decades of technical expertise. European manufacturers can now take advantage of the same proven and flexible manufacturing that US divisions of major global OEMs such as Abbott Laboratories, Philips, General Electric and Siemens Medical have come to rely on to meet tough system delivery schedules. By combining advanced production engineering with automated links between CAD, manufacturing and quality data, AID is able to fine-tune volume production schedules, while assuring the levels of quality demanded by instrumentation, kiosk and medical applications.

As European Sales Manager Phil Bradshaw observes, “The input to an electronics system is often unique, and presents the broadest combination of technical, manufacturing and logistic challenges. The pressure for vendor reduction and the increasing focus by OEMs on ‘core competence’ means that we believe the time is right to bring our complete sub-system approach to European system manufacturers”.

Editor’s Note

Advanced Input Devices specialises in the outsourced supply of user input sub-systems. Working from concept, through prototyping to volume manufacture, AID offers decades of expertise in the selection and optimisation of keyboard, switch, user control and display technologies within ergonomically designed enclosures. Advanced Input is not just a keyboard manufacturer, and is therefore not tied to a particular keyboard type.

In addition to neutral technology advice, AID offers access to re-useable interface IP (Intellectual Property) for fast development and smooth system integration. As well as electronics development, the complete custom enclosure service from AID includes the industrial design, injection moulding and advanced project management resources necessary to meet demanding delivery schedules for complex systems.

ISO9001 certification, together with global support and services have helped to make AID a world leader in custom input integration for critical applications such as medical equipment, telecommunications systems, industrial and portable devices.

Advanced Input Devices is a division of Esterline Technologies of Bellevue, Washington, a public company with expertise in the areas of input products, automated manufacturing equipment, and aerospace and defence components.
