Tactile and Influential

We live in a world of sights, sounds and touch — senses that often determine our selection process. But most of us don’t consciously notice that these contributing determinants were often the result of good engineering. We may believe how “remarkable” the feel of a particular material or color choice is when purchasing a brand of clothes; or ponder the “touch and feel” of one long distance golf ball over another; or marvel at the presentation of a King Tut interactive museum display. Even the tactile sensations we experience absorbing the features of a new car are influential.

Coincidence? Or was someone thinking of you? Undoubtedly, it was good engineering and manufacturing expertise that brought you that “feel”. Advanced Input Systems has spent over 24 years thinking of the end user during our engineering of elastomeric keypads. We recognize how important tactile feel, color schemes and unique design considerations are as they relate to the function of your keyboard.

The purpose of this short informational bulletin is to provide a background perspective in elastomers, elastomeric parameters and design factors — all of which are central considerations in the development of your next keyboard product.
